At Hopkins, we want to ensure that all students regardless of background or resources have access to tools that help them find, apply to, and enroll at the schools that are right for them.
We’re proud to be a College Partner with QuestBridge, a national program connecting high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds to full four-year scholarships with over 50 colleges and universities.
Our QuestBridge Scholars are building a strong community through their studies, passion projects, extracurricular involvement, and enthusiasm in supporting their fellow Blue Jays.

Our First-Generation and/or Limited Income Community
Hopkins offers a variety of support to students from many backgrounds, including first-generation and/or limited-income (FLI) students.
Being the first in your family to attend college—meaning both your parents, guardians, or other custodial family members have not completed a four-year college degree—brings valuable perspective, experiences, and strengths to your college experiences.

Application Deadlines & Requirements
Applying Through the National College Match
The first step in applying to Hopkins through QuestBridge is by completing a free National College Match Application by their fall deadline.
If you are selected as a QuestBridge Finalist, you’ll submit additional materials (called Match Requirements) to each of the colleges on your ranking list by November 1. Our Match Requirements include the Hopkins-QuestBridge Questionnaire, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and CSS Profile.
Students who are not selected as QuestBridge Finalists can use their QuestBridge application and apply to Hopkins through Early Decision II or Regular Decision.
Applying Through Hopkins Admissions Plans
As a first-year applicant, you can apply to Hopkins through QuestBridge or through one of our other admissions plans—Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision. Only one application can be submitted per admissions cycle.

What is covered in my QuestBridge Scholarship?

The QuestBridge Scholarship covers the total cost of attendance in the fall and spring semesters. This includes tuition, housing, food, books, supplies, and transportation.
Does Hopkins require a supplemental essay?

QuestBridge applicants do not need to submit the Hopkins Supplemental Essay. They will only need to complete the Hopkins-QuestBridge Questionnaire, which is available in the applicant portal.
How can I visit campus? Are there fly-in programs available?

Students can visit campus via daily admissions sessions and tours or at our large-scale events. Admissions sessions and guided tours are held daily (apart from the winter months) most weekdays and select Saturdays. Registration opens approximately one month in advance.
Fly-in programs provide travel assistance to visit campus for eligible families, and QuestBridge students are encouraged to apply.
What support is available for QuestBridge students at Hopkins?

QuestBridge students have access to a variety of resources to support their academic, social, and professional experiences at Hopkins. Through our QuestBridge Scholars Network, QuestBridge students make connections with peers who went through their own match process and found their home at Hopkins.
All First-Generation and/or Limited-Income (FLI) students receive a Success Coach in Academic Advising who provides individualized support. Students also have access to HULAs (Hopkins Undergraduates Leaders in Advising), peer advisors who work closely with success coaches and help ensure a successful first-year transition.
Blue Jays also access research opportunities through the Hopkins Office of Undergraduate Research, professional development through the Imagine Center, and peer tutoring services via the PILOT program.

As an international student, can I apply to Hopkins through QuestBridge?

Hopkins will consider all students, regardless of citizenship, for the National College Match. We are need-aware for international students and will require the International Student Certification of Finances (COF) in addition to the Hopkins-QuestBridge Questionnaire.

What happens if I am a National College Match Finalist who did not match?

If you are a National College Match Finalist who did not match, this means the schools you ranked were not able to offer you early admission and a Match Scholarship. Finalists who are not matched have not been rejected from Hopkins, and previous applicants who did not match have been accepted to Hopkins through Early Decision II or Regular Decision admissions plans.
After the match process concludes, non-matched applicants can use their QuestBridge application to apply to Hopkins via Early Decision II or Regular Decision. To select your admissions round, submit the Admissions Plan Change Form in your applicant portal.
We meet full financial need for all applicants, with free tuition for families making up to $200,000 and $0 parent cost for families making up to $100,000. Students who apply via these rounds are also considered for merit scholarships. Learn more about how we make it possible to graduate debt-free.
What are my options if I’m a National College Match Non-Finalist?

The National College Match Finalist selection process considers many factors, and previous non-finalists have been accepted to Hopkins through our other admissions plans.
Non-finalists can use their QuestBridge application to apply to Hopkins. You will need to complete the QuestBridge Regular Decision form, which usually becomes available on the QuestBridge application portal after finalist decisions have been released.
What are my options if I am a QuestBridge applicant who didn’t rank Hopkins?

Both QuestBridge non-finalists and non-match finalists who did not rank Hopkins will have the option to use their QuestBridge application to apply to Hopkins. You will need to complete the QuestBridge Regular Decision form, which usually becomes available on the QuestBridge application portal after finalist decisions have been released.
What will financial aid look like if I am admitted to Hopkins outside of the National College Match process? Will it be less?

We meet full financial need so that Hopkins students have the freedom to pursue what drives them without worrying about debt. Our financial aid program offers $0 parent cost for families making up to $100,000 and free tuition for families making up to $200,000.
How can I submit additional materials, including my mid-year transcripts?

Mid-year transcripts should be submitted by your high school counselor via Slate.org, Parchment, Naviance, or your school’s program of record. Transcripts will not be accepted if sent by the applicant or their families.
Optional additional materials such as resumes, portfolios, or additional letters of recommendation can be emailed to applyhelp@jhu.edu or your regional admissions counselor.
