Now that my first year has come to an end, here’s a highlight reel of some noteworthy moments. Thanks to one of my friends for providing a few photos I couldn’t get myself!

This picture is of the annual German Christmas Village at the Inner Harbor. Me and my friends made the trip over and were able to see the beautiful sights. They had a bunch of booths set up, but unfortunately, we got there too late to buy anything, but there was still a lot left to see. The skating rink next door was still open, and from what I saw from the booths that hadn’t put all their things away yet, there were a lot of homemade accessories like scarves, hats, and even gemstone jewelry.

Here’s two photos I took during winter break once I got back home. Despite living in the New York metropolitan area, I’ve never seen the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree (or I was too young to remember it). Me and my mom made the trip over to the city and took a 20-minute trip from Grand Central Station to Rockefeller Center. As a warning for anyone who wants to see the tree themselves, the city is never more crowded than when it’s a holiday full of tourists!

Me and my friends took a trip to Towson mall and found ourselves in Arcade One. We didn’t play anything, but it was fun to look around. After a life of Dave and Buster’s, it was a surprise for me to see a modern-day arcade have Japanese crane games.

Moving forward, here are a few pictures my friend took during orientation week that I forgot to take myself. Thanks Jadzia!

This was the orientation week carnival. I did not win a single thing from any of the games, but luckily, I had a nice suitemate that gave me a consolation prize he didn’t want himself (it was a Baltimore Ravens’ car air freshener if you’re curious). So, it wasn’t all total losses!

This is a photo from convocation during Orientation week. I was excited to finally jumpstart the year once the ceremony was over—I couldn’t wait to see what Hopkins had in store. Plus, the snacks were tasty. I didn’t see these 2028 cookies myself so I’m glad my friend took a picture of them—they’re neat.

Lastly, this was the Class of 2028’s addition to the Hopkins tradition of class pictures spelling out “JHU” and their graduation year. I remember vividly this was just moments or a day before I met one of my good friends here at a Whiting student orientation event in Shriver Hall, so this pic has pretty great memories. Plus, taking photos of us all from the top of Gilman Hall takes some major bravery I’m not confident to say I have.
