Charles R. Westgate Scholarship in Engineering

The Charles R. Westgate Scholarship in Engineering is a merit-based scholarship providing full tuition for up to four years of undergraduate study in any major in the Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Up to two scholarships are available for entering freshmen students each year.

There is no separate application to be considered for the Westgate Scholarship. All students admitted to the university who select a first-choice major in an engineering department are considered for this merit-based scholarship. The Westgate Scholarship is designed to bring to Johns Hopkins and the Whiting School of Engineering the most outstanding undergraduate engineering students in the world. These students distinguish themselves through their academic, leadership, and research abilities, and high level of independent inquiry and creativity.

A Scholarship Committee will select scholars from among qualified freshman applicants. Selected Westgate scholars are notified at the time of admission and invited to campus to participate in a special visit program. The scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years of undergraduate study based on continued enrollment in the Whiting School of Engineering and maintenance of at least a 3.0 GPA.
