39) Bloomberg Center The Bloomberg Center for Physics and Astronomy was opened in 1990, and is named in honor of Michael Bloomberg, Hopkins grad, former Chair of the Trustees, and Mayor of New York City. It is the largest building on campus, and includes more than 20 research laboratories, an auditorium, a library, classrooms, and an observatory dome on the roof. It also houses the control center for NASA's Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer satellite (FUSE), which was built at Hopkins. |
