Why I chose Johns Hopkins: One of the main reasons I chose to come to Hopkins was because of the significant research opportunities available for undergraduate students. I was excited to attend a university with such a well-regarded History Department, and it didn't hurt that the Homewood campus is breathtaking!

Favorite class: My favorite class this semester is definitely The Victorians, which is an upper level class that covers the history of the Victorian era of England. We meet Wednesday afternoons for two and a half hours for our intimate class discussions. Not only does my professor choose fascinating readings, we read about the impact of religion on interior decorating last week, but I love being in such a small and personal class. It has become one of the most rewarding academic experiences of my time here at JHU.

The biggest difference between high school and Johns Hopkins that I've experienced: Because my day is not as formally structured as it was in high school, it is my responsibility to create a schedule that allows me to get all of my homework done, while balancing extra-curricular activities and relaxation.

My favorite character from a movie/book/television series: My favorite character is Cher from the movie Clueless, but Scarlett O’Hara is a close second.

Favorite place on the Homewood campus: My favorite place on the Homewood campus is actually where I am sitting right now, at a study carrel on the B level of the Eisenhower library. I love the feeling of being surrounded by volumes of texts while I study—it somehow makes me feel smarter!

What I want to do with my major: I would love to work in publishing as an editor for children's books or magazines.

Three unusual things about myself:

  1. I love rainy weather.
  2. I read my horoscope every day.
  3. I am obsessed with cats.
