Why I chose Johns Hopkins: The first thing that stood out to me about Hopkins was the fact that it is the best school in the nation in my major. Once I came here, so much more stood out to me. The atmosphere. The professors. The research opportunities. Simply put, there is no place better than Hopkins.

Favorite class: Right now, I really love Biomedical Engineering: Modeling and Design. The lab time is really hands-on, which helps you feel like you're really an engineer. We also have guest lecturers every week who are always super interesting. Oh, and we get to go to Six Flags.

Why I'm glad I chose Johns Hopkins: The research opportunities, outstanding professors, and excellent education are all wonderful aspects of Hopkins, but what I like most is that I am surrounded by like-minded people. We all have lofty goals, ambition, and a wonderful personality to match, so I feel like I have something in common with all of the amazing people that I meet.

My favorite character from a movie/book/television series: My favorite character is Dr. Gregory House from the television show House. He is witty, intelligent, and he went to Hopkins. What could be better?!?

Favorite place in Baltimore: The aquarium! My friends and I went there during Orientation and it was so fun! It's just a short ride from the Hopkins campus and there is so much to look at. (I gotta say, though, the giant turtle is definitely the coolest. Hands down.)

Favorite Johns Hopkins tradition: This isn't a school-wide tradition or anything, but almost my entire freshman year floor in McCoy went to dinner together every night. It made me feel like I have another family, which I basically did have.

Three unusual things about myself:

  1. I occasionally have wild turkeys living in my backyard.
  2. I apparently have a "Wisconsin accent." I, however, disagree.
  3. I bedazzled all my robotics team t-shirts in high school.
