Why I chose Johns Hopkins: I loved the campus when I came to visit, and the pros of living in a city outweighed the cons.
Favorite professor: By far my favorite professor is my Portuguese professor, Professor Bensabat-Ott. She really made sure that you learned the material, while at the same time not looking down on you for not doing so well. She still says hi to me to this date, and luckily I can respond back in Portuguese!
The biggest difference between high school and Johns Hopkins that I've experienced: The biggest difference I've noticed is workloads/studying. Most students here didn't acquire excellent study habits in high school, so a lot of students have to develop those while here. In addition, the workload is a lot more intense than high school.
Favorite Baltimore event: My favorite Baltimore event has got to be Bmore Proud, a student LGBT conference held at a local school each year. Not only is it great to network with all these other schools, but you get to meet so many amazing new people, and make some lifelong friends.
Favorite place in Baltimore: My favorite place in Baltimore at the moment is probably Bolton Hill, because of all the time I've spent there with my friends from MICA. The area is beautiful, and MICA's buildings only add to the beauty. I'd recommend checking it out at least once, it's a beautiful walk.
Favorite Johns Hopkins memory: My favorite Hopkins memory is the first Batizado I've been to for capoeira. It was only possible because of the amazing group we have here at Hopkins, and all the hard work we put in. It's definitely a community I'm very proud to be a part of.
