Why I chose Johns Hopkins: The fact that I can hop (no pun intended) on a train and be in Baltimore in about three hours is very appealing to me. Also, the campus is strikingly beautiful—anyone who has visited can tell you so—and I instantly fell in the love with it. I figure, if I need to live somewhere for the next four years of my life, I might as well enjoy the view.
My favorite character from a movie/book/television series: SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS! I used to watch Spongebob every day after school—I mean during elementary school, middle school, AND high school. I am not lying. For some reason, Spongebob never got old to me. I even have a stuffed Spongebob attached to the wall in my dorm room!
Favorite place in Baltimore: The Inner Harbor is absolutely beautiful. You can paddleboat, eat at a variety of delicious restaurants, visit the National Aquarium in Baltimore, or just take a stroll over the foot-bridges and enjoy the scenery.
Favorite Johns Hopkins memory: Crying (tears of joy) when I found out that I got in to the JHU Mental Notes. The Mental Notes are JHU's only comedy a cappella group, and as soon as I walked into my first audition and saw how fun and crazy they all were, I knew I wanted to be a Mental Note myself. When I got the phone call saying that I was accepted into the group, I remember jumping for joy as the tears ran down my face.
Favorite Johns Hopkins tradition: Spring Fair! Concerts, games, and fried Oreos. What more could I ask for?
Coolest (spring/summer/winter) break experience: One of my Italian cousins is the mayor of Supino, Italy. My family and I spent two weeks last summer living in an apartment complex above their house. We participated in their family traditions, saw some beautiful sights, and even picked up some Italian along the way.
