Why I chose Johns Hopkins: I loved the campus, I knew I wanted a city school, and the breadth of the academic programs really appealed. More than anything else though, the people I met at Hopkins were the deciding factor. Everyone was so interesting, involved, multitalented, and enthusiastic about the school.

Favorite class: American Bibles. It was a really cool, very small English class that I took spring semester freshman year. Everyone in the class was extremely intelligent which made for great conversations. Surprise bonus was the fact that the professor happened to be my high school English teacher's best friend from high school.

Favorite Baltimore event: It's a tie between the Baltimore Running Festival and the Fell's Point Halloween party/parade.

Why I am glad I chose Johns Hopkins: From this vantage point, I can't imagine going anywhere else. It's a great school because you really become invested in it—everyone here is really involved, in and out of their classes, on and off campus. There's not a single person here that I've met who simply goes to class. Everyone volunteers, or plays sports, or teaches, or works, or writes, or whatever, but everyone is doing something.

Favorite place in Baltimore: Roland Park—it's such a beautiful neighborhood. It's great for long runs and inspirational real estate shopping. Most of all though, I love it because it's the place my roommate and I escape to when we're feeling a little overwhelmed. We sit in a coffee shop with a great cappuccino, relax, and then make the long walk back to campus. It's a nice tradition.

Favorite Johns Hopkins memory: Last year I got the chance to have dinner at President Daniels' house with a student group I work with. It's such a beautiful house, the food was incredible, and President Daniels is such an interesting person. He had just arrived at Hopkins and it was amazing to hear how much he had in mind for the school. He was so eager to hear our own ideas and get to know "our Hopkins" as well; it was all around an incredible experience.

Coolest (spring/summer/winter) break experience: After freshman year I worked for a small headhunting-consulting firm in London and lived there for the summer! It was a great experience, and my first real internship. I had to write a real resume, sort out housing, and live on my own for the summer. It was a great learning experience and such a cool job!

Three unusual things about myself:

  1. I went to circus camp as a child.
  2. This year, I bungee jumped off the bridge into Zimbabwe.
  3. I'm distantly related to Winston Churchill and also Romanian gypsies.
