Why I chose Johns Hopkins: I am a Baltimore Scholar, which means I get tuition paid for all four years—money was definitely a huge thing! I also was attracted to the public health studies major, as well as all of the diverse opportunities Johns Hopkins offers in terms of research, academic topics, careers, and connections with its prestigious graduate schools.

The biggest difference between high school and Johns Hopkins that I've experienced: Definitely having to pay more attention to detail with assignments; also, having to get outside of your comfort to ask for help! From anyone. Tutors, friends, professors, TAs, you name it. Ask and ye shall receive!

My favorite character from a movie/ book/television series: I'm going to say Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She was strong-minded, smart, and she stood up to anyone, and was not afraid to ask for help when she needed something. Sounds like she would have made a great Hopkins student. ;)

Coolest (spring/summer/winter) break experience: Last Intersession I took two amazing classes (one about obesity, one about white privilege in society) and loved them. I was also a course assistant for a freshman seminar called "B'More!" An end-of-Intersession trip to NY with friends put the icing on the cake.

Favorite Johns Hopkins memory: I'm a simple person so I'll say the midnight breakfast at the FFC my freshman year, and they had crayons and paper as stress relief. Let's just say my friends and I created a masterpiece that we still have.

What I want to do with my major: I have no idea what I want to do with public health because it's so broad! I do know I want to do something where I can physically move a lot and do a lot of public speaking.

Three unusual things about myself:

  1. I dislike the smacking noises some shoes make.
  2. I've never dyed or highlighted my hair—maybe that'll change soon!
  3. I have an odd obsession with people's accents and trying to figure out people's ethnic backgrounds.
