Why I chose Johns Hopkins: The gorgeous brick buildings, the promise of real seasons, and the fact that the humanities departments at Hopkins feel like small liberal arts havens within a larger, forward-thinking university.

Favorite class: Intro to Cognitive Psychology. So far we've learned about attention, vision, memory, and eyesight.

What is the biggest difference between high school and Johns Hopkins that you have experienced? In high school, you could be a top student just by following instructions and finishing all of your work on time. At Hopkins, each class demands thorough and innovative thought.

Favorite spot on the Homewood campus: I'm addicted to Café Q, the warm, little coffee shop on the top level of the library that sells perfect study food, like curried chicken sandwiches and iced vanilla lattes.

My favorite Johns Hopkins memory so far: Orientation week in general. It was a blur of meeting people, playing silly games on the Beach, discovering the joys of my kitchenette, and wandering around St. Paul Street with my friends until we had established favorite stores and restaurants.

Three unusual things about myself:
  1. I was born on St. Patrick's Day, so there's always a parade on my birthday.
  2. I've never been able to snap.
  3. I once spent a summer climbing glaciers in Alaska, which would be a shock to anyone who knows me now.
