Mandy S.
Class of 2011
Read my blog: Simply Serendipitous
Hometown: Cary, NC
Major/Minor: Neuroscience
Current residence: Wolman Hall
Campus involvement: Admissions Volunteer
Why I chose Johns Hopkins: I'll be honest. I first found Hopkins way before the college search process because it just so happens to share the same location as the Orioles. I came here because of the incredible neuroscience program and all the opportunities that are available to students.
Favorite class: Organic Chemistry. It has a reputation for being absolutely awful and extraordinarily difficult, but I love the subject and enjoy the challenge.
What is the biggest difference between high school and Johns Hopkins that you have experienced? The complete and total freedom and the responsibility that comes with it.
Favorite spot on the Homewood campus: Walking down the path past Shaffer Hall and toward Shriver Hall is so classically collegiate. It's a really pretty walk.
Where I see myself in 10 years: Ideally, I'll be a neurological resident at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, but we'll see!
Three unusual things about myself:
- My cleaning routine includes sanitizing the doorknobs in my suite with Clorox wipes.
- I absolutely despise ketchup.
- I've only been off the East Coast twice.
