Laura P.
Class of 2009
Read my blog: A Day in the Life
Hometown: Seattle, WA
Major/Minor: Writing Seminars major; Women, Gender, and Sexuality minor
Current residence: Off-campus
Campus involvement: Outdoor Pursuits, JHOC (Johns Hopkins Outdoors Club), Admissions Representative, SARU (Sexual Assault Response Unit)
Why I chose Johns Hopkins: Hopkins has the most to offer me. Furthermore, the campus is beautiful, the academics are amazing, and I met a lot of great people when I came to visit.
Favorite class: Faulkner, Fitzgerald and Hemingway
Favorite spot on the Homewood campus: The Baltimore Museum of Art sculpture garden (which is right next door to campus) because it's really pretty and an aweome place read, have a picnic, or just chill out with friends.
My favorite Johns Hopkins memory so far: Earlier this year, my roommates, a few friends, and I had an especially hectic, stressful week. Just after I had finished my last class and was completely exhausted, I ran into my roommate, lying on the Upper Quad, enjoying the sunlight. Soon, one of our friends joined us, and we napped, de-stressed, and chatted about things unrelated to school.
My ideal three-day weekend: Going off campus on a rock-climbing or backpacking trip. As much as I love campus, it is nice to get outside and do something different for a change. There are so many beautiful areas nearby in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Three unusual things about myself:
- I drink an average of six shots of espresso a day.
- I color-code my planbook and most of my notes.
- I live with boys.
