Why I chose Johns Hopkins: Two words: the visit.

What is the biggest difference between high school and Johns Hopkins that you have experienced? No matter what high school you come from, the teaching style in college is totally different than anything you've encountered before. It's a wonderful thing, if you don't procrastinate like most of us do. (Advice: Perfect the skill of time management in high school and college will be a breeze).

What myth about Johns Hopkins frustrates you the most? After three years of living at Hopkins, I have yet to meet the famed Cut-Throats. My friends and I regularly study for exams together, we motivate each other to succeed, and rarely compare one's success to another's failure.

My favorite Johns Hopkins memory so far: I made some life-long friends at the annual Student Success Series Retreat. SSS is a yearlong program for selected (primarily multicultural) students to help them acclimate to the rigors of Hopkins within a supportive community of diverse students.

Three unusual things about myself:
  1. I think I might have a phobia...of lightning!
  2. Ox tail. Alligator. Cow tongue. Tripe. Ostrich. Pig tails. Kitfo. Joloff rice. I've eaten, and loved, all of these foods.
  3. While learning how to drive a manual car in South Africa this summer I crashed into an acacia tree. Luckily the only thing hurt that day was my bruised ego.
