Esther B.
Class of 2009
Read my blog: Adventures at Hopkins
Hometown: Providence, RI
Major/Minor: International studies major; minors in French, economics, and history
Current residence: Arzier, Switzerland (fall semester); Off-campus (spring semester)
Campus involvement: Barnstormers, Witness! Theater, Committee for Leadership Initiative, Admissions Representative
Why I chose Johns Hopkins: It has a great international studies program and is different enough from my home to make it an adventure.
Favorite class: Global Security Politics. It's all about blowing up the world (and how we might be able to stop that from happening) Umm, yeah, that's so cool.
What myth about Johns Hopkins frustrates you the most? The myth about the seal. Every college has a seal you are not supposed to walk on for fear of not graduating. Hopkins didn't always have this myth. When my parents went here in the 70s it didn't exist. That being said, I still haven't walked on the seal!
Where I see myself in 10 years: Either the marketing director for a theater in NYC or a member of the foreign service.
My ideal three-day weekend: I would spend one day in D.C., one day performing in a play, and the last day reading the New York Times in bed.
Three unusual things about myself:
- I was born in England.
- I have an identical twin sister who also attends Johns Hopkins.
- I love squash. The sport, not the vegetable.
