Why I chose Johns Hopkins: Hopkins is to public health as Hopkins is to medicine as Hopkins is to international relations as Blake is to coolness. What I'm trying to say here is that Hopkins has a great deal of highly ranked programs, and you can explore your interests.
Favorite class: Urban Politics, taught by Dr. Lester K. Spence. Basically, this class is amazing.
What is the biggest difference between high school and Johns Hopkins that you have experienced? Definitely the attention to detail. The level of analyisis when doing course readings has increased, the amount of time I spend in the library has increased, and the attention paid to events with free food is immeasurable—mmmmm, free pizza.
What myth about Johns Hopkins frustrates you the most? That Hopkins is "cut throat." I really want to say that we do not stage daily fights to the death over test scores. (Intersession is when the battles are staged & just kidding.) Seriously, my peers and I help each other out constantly. If I have a question, I will ask another student in a heartbeat.
Why I am glad I chose to attend Johns Hopkins: The school isn't too big to the point where I have to find one group to fit into for the sake of survival, and it isn't so small that I am bored by the lack of variety on campus. It just works for me.
Three unusual things about myself:
- I will go anywhere for a free T-shirt.
- I love peanut butter, jelly, and cheese sandwiches. I've eaten them since I was a child.
- I'm a music fanatic...updating and organizing mp3s is one of my hobbies.
